About the role
You will lead the development and maintenance of a number of our actuarial systems, models and tools used by the Actuarial Department and implementation of approved business requirements necessary to support regulatory requirements, new products, reinsurance structures, management information and external reporting requirements. In addition, you will manage the delivery of work designed to improve the robustness and efficiency of the Actuarial Department through process improvements, make system enhancements and implement an adequate control framework.
This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative small team of five actuarial systems developers, within a much larger team of Systems Actuaries, analysts and IT experts in a role that offers excellent progression opportunities. The team are responsible for maintaining an advanced modelling platform comprising the best of Mo.net, database technology and Just in-house capabilities. The team never stands still and is constantly looking to push forward with technological advances so an inquisitive mindset and a willingness to strive for continual improvement of the team’s processes and controls is essential.
Key Accountabilities
To deliver systems change for projects and manage dependencies with the wider change delivery and IT processes.
To implement new requirements into the actuarial systems, model and tools.
To manage the model maintenance program for one or more systems or areas within a system, including regular engagement and effective communication with user groups and senior managers and maintaining consistency with other systems.
To act as model steward responsible for systems release cycles and processes ensuring application of control frameworks and release timeframes
About You
The experience, skills and knowledge we are looking for:
IFoA qualification is essential, technical actuarial experience in reporting, pricing or capital and/or experience in developing Actuarial models within Excel, VBA and VB.Net would be advantageous
Strong interest in IT – R, Python, Mo.net, SQL OR vb.nET
Enthusiasm and a keenness to learn and collaborate with the team is essential
Knowledge of insurance products and markets is essential
