We are currently looking to expand our team who focus on Industrial Heat Decarbonisation, within the Heat Decarbonisation business area. Our Heat Decarbonisation business area comprises a >30-strong team of engineers, consultants and project managers who are at the forefront of delivering heat decarbonisation solutions in the UK and internationally, from working with governments to develop policy, to the implementation of low carbon heat solutions in the public and private sectors. Our industrial heat decarbonisation team brings together our expertise and project portfolios in industry, CHP, CCUS, hydrogen and bioenergy. As the demand for our services in these areas grow, we are seeking to further grow our team and are looking for excellent consultants to add value to our team.

Our heat experts require a comprehensive range of skills and experience key to scoping out and implementing industrial heat decarbonisation opportunities and solutions. These include knowledge of industrial processes, efficiency strategies, industrial decarbonisation pathways, heat recovery technologies, ability to generate and understand energy balances, undertaking of due diligence of technical proposals, and project financial appraisals. These skills are key for identifying and progressing technically sound projects which can be implemented efficiently and generate long term cost and carbon savings.

This role is for you if you have:

• An understanding of heat-using processes in industry
• Understanding of decarbonisation pathways for industry
• Ability to collect and collate data to qualify and quantify the opportunities for industrial heat decarbonisation, including but not limited to process optimisation, waste heat recovery, low carbon heat technologies, fuel switching, CCUS.
• An understanding of how to undertake robust analysis of the likely financial and environmental performance of decarbonisation pathways.

We encourage you to apply for this role if you have the following:

• Relevant scientific or engineering background.
• Experience and/or strong knowledge of industrial processes.
• Experience in identifying and implementing heat decarbonisation opportunities industry.
• Consultant – 2-5 years’ experience, Senior Consultant 5-8 years+ experience.
• Proven consultancy skills, or applicable transferableskills from industry.

Your role may involve:

• Modelling of energy data and energy mass balances.
• Research/analysis and technical due diligence of new and innovative technologies.
• Supporting the development of tailored decarbonisation strategies for process heat or downstream heat consuming processes in industries such as Chemicals, Cement, Iron and Steel, Glass, Ceramics, Paper and Board, Automotive and Food and Drink.
• Research, analysis and modelling to support government policy development.
