About our Team

The RELX Global Procurement team focuses on enabling competitive advantage by leveraging buying power and mitigating supplier risks across the company. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Analyst to join our team and help us achieve these goals.

About the Role

As a Database Analyst, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our backend SQL spend database to ensure its efficiency and reliability. Your primary responsibility will be to organize complex datasets, develop database solutions, and provide actionable insights to improve our data management processes.

Responsibilities

Managing and administering our backend SQL database for smooth operation, security, and performance.

Designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions to meet organizational data management needs.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide database support for projects and initiatives.

Using SQL, ETL processes, and tools to cleanse, manipulate, and store data accurately and consistently.

Enhancing database performance and scalability through indexing, partitioning, and query optimization strategies.

Maintaining data dictionaries, documentation, and governance policies to ensure compliance and accessibility.

Ensuring database backups, disaster recovery plans, and security measures by partnering with IT teams.

Staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in database management and optimization.

Requirements

Have an undergraduate education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related work experience.

Experience with large and complex datasets, including both on-premises and cloud-based (Azure/AWS) environments.

Solid understanding of SQL, relational database concepts, and database administration.

Be proficient in managing and optimizing SQL databases, including performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

Have knowledge of data governance principles, best practices, and experience with ETL processes and tools.

Possess sharp analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.

Be independent and collaborative, self-motivated, and proactive in a data-centric environment.

Experience using tools using analytical tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, Python, R) a plus.
