We are looking for a Director of Experience Design for our flagship platform LSEG Workspace to provide hands-on design leadership, grow and scale our product design teams with a focus on how we use AI and other emerging technologies to transform our users’ experience. This leader will act as a key member of the team defining LSEG’s partnership with Microsoft, envisioning and driving competitive differentiators in conjunction with our partners.

Our flagship platforms and products are used by many thousands of users across the globe. Traders, brokers, wealth analysts, C-level, portfolio managers, researchers, risk analysts, and many more use them in different ways, in different contexts, in different countries, in different workflows, and with different needs. Our users rely on our products to deliver real-time, highly complex information in a way that they need, when they need it. This is delivered via desktop, mobile and web. Our platforms and products lead the financial industry. They offer fantastic opportunities for designers to really push the bounds of what’s possible, and deliver outstanding experiences for our customers.

The role is in the Workspace Experience Design team, based in London. The team is responsible for design across a wide range of systems, platforms and products. We work closely with both the proposition/strategy teams as well as the product management and technology teams. You will work closely with a core team of principal and senior designers who together have a great deal of experience working on complex desktop, mobile and web applications, and in designing for finance and risk professionals.

What you’ll be doing

• Helping develop and deliver the LSEG Workspace experience design vision and strategy
• Be responsible for multiple strategic and tactical design projects, delivering end-to-end experiences
• As an expert in User Experience Design, you will set the standard for design excellence through personal contribution and providing direction and support for multiple design teams
• Have ownership of product design strategies
• Lead teams to create solutions which transform our users’ experience, with a focus on using artificial intelligence capabilities and other emerging technologies
• Managing and coaching UX Designers
• Responsible for quality and timeliness of designs
• Directly improving our Design function by sharing insights into applied best practices
• Partnering with leaders across Product, Proposition and Development to ensure design solutions are aligned with customer needs and business goals to deliver maximum customer value
• Help establish a philosophy/mindset for how the design teams approaches their work
• Demonstrating expertise on company products and industry trends
• Will look to nurture, grow, apply, encourage innovation in everything the design team does
• Continually share and align your work with the wider design team

What you’ll need

• Significant hands-on experience in a UX Design role in complex products/domains, highly preferred in financial services
• Expert knowledge of user-centred design methodologies
• Have a demonstrable history of successfully leading high-performing multi-disciplinary design teams within the professional financial or similarly complex enterprise industries
• Have deep knowledge of the professional financial industry
• Have experience of building strong business relationships across an organisation
• Strong communication, coaching, presentation skills. Yet humble in delivery
• Strong leadership skills, for both people support and development, and design delivery.
• Have led teams in framing and solving hard, complex problems.
• Have driven innovative efforts that uncovered new value with new kinds of experiences for both designers and customers/users.
• Are highly creative, detail-oriented, passionate about delivering the best user experience possible.
• Have a strong appetite for complexity, for thinking about operating systems, for grids, numbers, forms, and for disentangling workflows associated with managing and consuming data.
• Enjoy seeing your work taken through the trials of implementation and into the users’ hands.
• Are comfortable working alongside or within Agile product development processes.
• Experience with enterprise-scale Design Systems
• Capable of both working at both the big picture and detail levels
• Track record of driving the user experience across highly complex enterprise problems with measurable success
• Excellent communication skills
