About you:
The Finance Business Partner for Product and Engineering plays a critical role in supporting and guiding the financial aspects of product development and engineering initiatives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, providing financial analysis, and helping to optimize resource allocation and investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to develop and maintain financial models and forecasts for projects, product development, and engineering activities.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis, scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis to assess the financial impact of different strategies and decisions.
Assist in the development of budgets and financial plans for product development and engineering departments.
Work with department heads to allocate resources efficiently, balancing project needs with financial constraints.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product development and engineering, identifying trends and providing actionable insights to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Evaluate new product proposals, engineering projects, and capital investments to assess their financial viability and alignment with strategic objectives.
Provide recommendations on whether to proceed with or modify projects based on financial analysis.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the product and engineering departments.
Collaborate with teams to implement cost control measures while maintaining product quality and innovation.
Prepare and present financial reports and summaries to product and engineering leadership and other stakeholders.
Ensure transparency in financial reporting and make complex financial data accessible to non-finance teams.
Act as a liaison between finance and product/engineering teams, facilitating communication and alignment on financial goals and strategies.
Participate in product development meetings, engineering reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
Identify and assess financial risks associated with product and engineering initiatives.
Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure financial stability.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
Proven experience in finance, financial analysis, or business partnering, ideally in a technology or product development environment.
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
Knowledge of product development and engineering processes, including a basic understanding of software development methodologies and project management.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel, and familiarity with financial systems and ERPs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to influence decision-making.
