Following a successful launch of the business, we are now growing out our marketing team. There is now an amazing opportunity for someone to come in and lead our Product and implementation.

Carmoola is a fully automated direct-to-consumer car finance lender. We have raised over £100M+ and are backed by some of the world’s leading investors. Having just closed our Series A funding round and senior debt facility we are now focused on scaling the business.

Your Role in Our Mission

As a Head of Product, you’ll be pivotal in shaping our product’s journey from conception to launch. Your expertise will guide the technical development of innovative features that enhance our customers’ experience from their first interaction through the life of their loan with Carmoola.

The Role

In this versatile role, you’ll navigate the full product lifecycle, collaborating closely with our engineering teams to help them more efficiently bring valuable products to our users. You’ll be involved in all lifecycle stages, from initial research to scoping, supporting the building and testing phases, and post-launch performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Guide products, features and integrations throughout the full lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, scope, and monitor all initiatives.
• Deep dive into problem-solving, working side-by-side with engineers to fully understand the impact of the changes we’re making.
• Negotiate on scope with key stakeholders and engineers, driving an 80/20 approach that aligns with business goals and user needs.
• Take ownership of preparing user stories, providing enough detail upfront, and communicating those stories clearly during backlog refinement sessions.
• Establish and monitor key metrics for each initiative, and feed back important improvements, changes, or issues to the wider team.
• Adapt and thrive in our “scrumban” environment, contributing to a collaborative atmosphere that fosters innovation and efficient working.

Need to Haves

• Proven experience in a product management role, coupled with a technical background.
• Skilled in agile processes in tech startups (aware of pros/cons of different approaches: scrumban, kanban, other)
• Hands-on experience working closely with engineering teams, providing detailed scope, and driving product development efficiencies.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, logical plans.
• Analytical mindset, complexity management and systems thinking, domain research.
• Experience with BI tools, basic data modelling and data analysis skills, SQL
• Project management skills, e.g. delivery timelines, dependencies management, alignment

• Detail-oriented, with a strong ability to get into the nitty gritty, foresee edge cases, and provide well thought out requirements to our engineering teams.
• Highly adaptable, capable of navigating change, and bringing certainty to our engineering teams in a dynamic startup environment.
• Strong communicator, adept at articulating the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ behind product decisions to technical team members.
• Proactive and autonomous, with a readiness to take ownership of substantial product areas.
