Job Title: Technology M&A Associate

Our client is a leading mid-market investment bank that is currently looking to add an Associate-level individual to their highly successful TMT team, focused predominantly on the Technology and Fintech sectors.

As an Associate in the team, you will play a crucial role in executing predominantly sell-side M&A transactions in the sector. You will work closely with senior deal professionals, leveraging your strong analytical and technical skills to conduct financial analysis, perform due diligence, create financial models, and contribute to the overall deal execution process in a very lean and highly entrepreneurial team, whilst supporting, mentoring and guiding the Analysts in the team.

The team has enjoyed strong deal flow, having executed landmark transactions in the sector and you would be staffed on live deals from day one.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough financial analysis and valuation models to evaluate potential acquisition targets, including asset managers, wealth managers, and related entities in the Technology space.
• Assist in the due diligence process, including reviewing financial statements, conducting industry research, and assessing key investment risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with senior deal professionals to develop client presentations, pitch books, and other transaction-related materials.
• Contribute to the execution of M&A transactions, including coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders, conducting market research, and managing transaction documentation.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics impacting the Technology sector.
• Support business development efforts by identifying potential clients and preparing market intelligence reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced qualifications (e.g. CFA) is a plus.
• Whilst not a pre-requisite, individuals with a Chartered Accountancy qualification would be considered – however at least a couple of years of lead advisory/M&A experience would be required.
• Strong understanding of the Technology industry, including knowledge of key players, products, and market dynamics.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or a related field, with a focus on M&A transactions, with a preference for the TMT sector.
• Solid financial modelling and valuation skills, including proficiency in Excel and financial databases.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and draw meaningful insights.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
• Fluency in English is essential. Additional languages are a plus.
