The Head of Delivery will be responsible for the delivery of large scale, complex change programmes aimed at maintaining, enhancing and transforming the Bank’s Digital technology and capabilities.
The role will be required to matrix manage a large, multi-disciplinary team who will be required to research, evaluate, define, plan, control and manage a portfolio of projects and programmes that will deliver business focused technology solutions critical to the Bank’s strategic transformation agenda over the next 2-3 years.
The role will require a combination of business and commercial acumen with an understanding of the IT Platform operating models in terms of its people, operational processes and technology.
Under the leadership of the Business Transformation and System Development Director, the Head of Delivery will work with a team of multi-disciplined specialists within the Platform, wider business and external vendors to deliver change utilising the Bank’s Change Methodology and recognised industry best practices.
The Head of Delivery will be a business partner for change required to manage a range of stakeholders relationships from C-Suite to project team members.
Job Description
Work with the Business Transformation Director to drive the development of the Digital Transformation strategy and roadmap to support future growth opportunities, along with improvements to technology and operational efficiency & effectiveness.
Lead the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of large change programmes to agreed timescales, cost and quality. Ensuring that all project activity is delivered in adherence to the Bank’s Change Framework, change processes, risk controls and delivery/governance performance metrics.
On behalf of the Business Transformation Director the Head of Delivery will assess value, develop business cases, and prioritise projects to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with Platform/technology strategy.
Proactively track project benefit delivery (qualitative and quantitative) to ensure that they are delivered in line with the agreed outcomes within Project business cases.
Work closely with Operational and Front Office business functions to ensure that support is obtained from these areas, in a timely manner, to deliver the agreed project and programme outcomes.
Work with the Heads of Technology Platforms in the scheduling of the pipeline of project activity for the Platform team (both engineering and change disciplines) in order to optimise resource capacity and workloads whilst securing timely engagement and input from cross Platform shared service functions.
Task Management of key roles across the Digital Transformation Programme including project managers, business analysts, PMO, IT application development SMES and external vendor resource where appropriate, to prioritise work in line with Programme delivery priorities.
Under the supervision and guidance of the Business Transformation Director, work with 3 rd party vendors and technology partners to ensure that resource is obtained and aligned to support project delivery plans. Work with the Heads of Technology Platforms to develop mutually beneficial relationships with 3 rd party suppliers and technology partners.
Ensure effective risk control processes and practices are in place across the projects that they are leading to maintain delivery in line with defined RCSA performance metrics. Creating a culture that continually probes, debates and identifies solutions for issues and risks.
Embed robust cost management across the Programmes that that they are leading to ensure that change is delivered in line with agreed budgets. And in doing so, identify opportunities to control (and where appropriate reduce) 3 rd party costs.
Execute robust supplier management and 3 rd party contractual/commercial processes required for the delivery of projects and programmes. Including close liaison with AL’s Operational Resilience, Procurement and Legal teams.
Work closely with the Transformation Enablement team to ensure that projects are effectively scheduled through appropriate Release and Environment Management processes.
Take responsibility for ensuring that Transformation Projects and Programmes are adhering to the requirements of the Bank’s Change Management Framework & Governance practices. Ensuring timely and accurate reporting into the Transformation Enablement PMO function.
Work Closely with the Transformation Enablement Testing function to ensure that Projects and Programmes that they are leading are tested in accordance with the corporate test strategy and approach.
Work closely with specialist shared service teams across IT Architecture, Information Security and Data Privacy to ensure that technology and operational designs are aligned with all required Bank standards and policies.
Lead and actively contribute to development of the Bank’s Change Capability through active contribution to the Change Management Community practice area.
Take personal ownership to ensure that best practice and lessons learnt from individual projects and programmes are captured and provided to the Transformation Enablement PMO to support wider project delivery.
Ensure that own knowledge is up to date and is reflective of internal and industry best practice. In terms of Change Management methodology and techniques and relevant digital technology solutions.
Regarded internally as an expert change practitioner and trusted partner, providing specialist knowledge and support to shape business development and resolve business issues.
If appropriate, Line Management of more junior colleagues within the IT & Transformation Function.
