Life in the Communications team at Seafish
Seafish is here to give the UK seafood sector the support it needs to thrive. Our work makes a huge difference. We collaborate with a wide range of partners – from seafood businesses and trade bodies to government, regulators and environmental organisations – and we engage in everything from research to campaigns, insight and training.
About the Communications team
In the Communications team it’s our job to promote the work we do at Seafish to the right people, in the right way at the right time. We’re an energetic team responsible for delivering a packed programme of multi-channel activity to our internal and external audiences. We support a huge industry that’s changing all the time. There are challenges to manage but there are also plenty of positive stories to tell.
Our Communications team has two functions: a PR and Comms function focused on content creation and calendar management for internal and external comms, and a Channels and Marketing function focused on platform management, data/insight and brand. This role is in our Channels function but we all work together closely, sharing our knowledge and expertise as one team.
Where and how we work
A few of the Communications team work remotely and others work a hybrid pattern, both remotely and from our Edinburgh office. We all come together for quarterly face to face team catch up sessions throughout the year. Additional travel is required for annual staff conferences, meetings and training or events.
At Seafish we have a trust and performance culture which focuses on performance not presence. Performance driven results means having autonomy and accountability in equal parts, so you can work in the way that’s most effective for you, as long as you deliver your work to the expected standards. You’ll have a personal development plan which clearly outlines the objectives and competencies for your role and learning and development goals. You’ll have regular catch ups with your line manager, along with mid-year and end of year reviews to discuss your work and performance.
Salary and Benefits
All roles within Seafish are graded and have defined salary bands. Both the Marketing Manager and the Website Manager are grade 5 posts and the salary range is £36,918 per annum. A new member’s appointment on the pay band is dependent on the experience they bring to the role when they start.
Additional benefits include:
