ABOUT THE ROLE

Pixalate is rapidly growing! As a result of our pioneering roadmap, our Data Privacy team is currently looking for a Senior Privacy Counsel with expert knowledge of Children’s data privacy rights and online safety laws.

The ideal candidate will be a driven team player, eager to collaborate with our product and engineering teams and engage as a representee of Pixalate with external p olicy makers/regulators to champion Children’s data privacy and online safety in the digital world.

You will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) of EU/UK GDPR with particular focus on Children’s online privacy laws, including a thorough and practical understanding of the UK’s Children’s Code (Age Appropriate Design Code), Article 8 of EU/UK GDPR and its implications on Children’s data handling by technology companies and developers. You will also have an interest in keeping up with ongoing regulatory changes at a national and international level concerning children’s data & online safety in general.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as an In-house SME in Children’s data privacy laws on a national and regional level; you will be expected to provide ongoing insights into legal developments and changes to the law concerning Children’s data and privacy rights.
• Advise internal stakeholders and act as a first point-of-contact for explaining practical implications and compliance requirements under relevant UK/EU data protection laws concerning Children’s data.
• Be an advocate for Children’s online privacy internally and externally, creating awareness by reviewing and sharing legal developments in an easy-to-understand format with internal stakeholders relating to Children’s data and accompanying legal developments across the region (UK/EU).
• Drive the vision, strategy, direction and roadmap of Pixalate’s Children Online Safety Product.
• Co-own the Children Online Safety product roadmap with the Product, Engineering and Data Science teams and provide steering on data governance and public policy implications in online advertising.
• Regularly engage with regional legislators and government regulators to identify and share with Pixalate all current and upcoming key policy changes concerning Children’s data.
• Work with Pixalate’s global team to develop briefing papers, blog posts, presentations, consultation responses and conduct webinars, brown bags and client presentations as per the yearly roadmap for publications and releases.

QUALIFICATION

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working within the Children’s online privacy rights sector, with a special interest, strong academic and practical knowledge of UK’s Children’s Code and Art. 8 of EU/UK GDPR
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience and an outstanding track record of providing in-house advice on data privacy related regulatory and compliance issues
• Excellent and demonstrable writing, reviewing and proofreading skills
• Experience in a trade association, government body, think-tank, university, consulting, law firm, compliance practice, or in-house environment highly desirable
• Degree in Law/Technology related subject; an understanding of advertising and marketing law is highly desirable
• Prior experience working in data privacy, AI or data security also welcomed
• CIPP/E (or equivalent) certification preferred
