Job Introduction

Mail Technology is the IT Service provider for the dmg media set of companies owned by DMGT (Daily Mail & General Trust). These include many well known and most loved brands including Daily Mail, Mail Online, The Mail on Sunday, Metro and The i. Through our national newspapers, websites and mobile services, we connect with over 45% of the UK’s adult population with over 130 million consumer touch points per month.

The focus of your attention will be on group wide E-commerce projects and will involve working across a number of the Mail brands and products. This is a collaborative environment in which you will have a strong input and the opportunity to build experience and responsibilities across the business.

The Purpose of the role

• Create QA Automation Strategies to ensure the most effective and efficient testing is carried out on a per project / product basis.
• Be hands-on creating and managing test automation frameworks and suites as required by our business partners.
• Work closely with the Project Managers, QA team to identify, advise and turn QA tasks and repetitive testing requirements into well reusable solutions.
• Work with Dev-ops to manage solutions from development through to deployment.
• Pair with other testers to solve problems.
• Communicate on progress, risks and issues.

The Role is Accountable for:

• Create automation framework independently for regression from scratch and manage existing automation suites.
• To set-up and execute automated and manual testing scenarios for new and ongoing projects
• Build RTM mapping against the Automation test case scripts.
• Track the automation bugs to closure.
• Best practices for software quality during execution of regression and end-to-end testing.

Main Responsibilities

• Automation Framework Design & Implementation
• Implemented automation using Selenium / WebDriver IO/, Appium, Cucumber BDD, Maven
• Develop and execute the Automation Test Scripts with mainly Typescript and Java
• Maintenance of Automation Resources
• Creating Data-driven Tests and Running through the framework.
• Parallel Test Execution.
• Convert existing manual regression suite into automated tests
• Understanding and analysing the business requirements in order to determine the test strategy covered by automation testing
• Work with manual testers to be able to be able to automate their manual tests.
• Preparation of test scenarios/cases/execution and test results.
• Raise defects using JIRA as our defect-tracking tool.
• Execute ad-hoc functional testing on request.
• Working with the development team to correct bugs and errors.
• Report test results / progress to the QA Manager, Project Manager and stakeholder
• Basic knowledge of Docker
• Experience in testing of high transactional and high-volume applications, data security and test management.
• Experience developing and executing test cases, scripts, plans and procedures to support test process.
• Experience in JIRA to utilize testing tools, bug tracking systems, and test case management applications.
• Good understanding of automation best practices and methodologies

Person Specification

• At least 7 years’ experience as an Automated Test Analyst or SDET (excluding time as a manual tester or any other IT experience)
• Experience of working in Agile teams and an excellent understanding of Agile Testing practices, including:
• Good understanding of Webdriver IO/ Playwright
• Good understanding of Selenium/Serenity Framework
• Knowledge and experience in using Cucumber BDD
• Good programming abilities with Appium to develop automated scripts for mobile Android/IOS applications.
• Experience with API testing
• Knowledge and experience with Linux machines/servers
• Knowledge and experience with Git (Source control)
• Knowledge and experience with MVN/Gradle (Package library manager)
• Knowledge and experience with Jenkins (Job Builder/Runner).
• Knowledge and experience with Python, Scala scripting and Apache groovy programming languages
• Basic knowledge of Docker
• Experience in testing of high transactional and high-volume applications, data security and test management.
• Experience developing and executing test cases, scripts, plans and procedures to support test process.
• Experience in JIRA to utilize testing tools, bug tracking systems, and test case management applications.
• Good understanding of automation best practices and methodologies.

Secondary
