Xpertise are recruiting an Enterprise Application Architect for a leading professional services organisation in Leeds. This is a strategic, hands-on role where you ll set the application strategy, define target and reference architectures, and govern designs across a complex, business-critical estate. You ll translate outcomes into secure, scalable solutions (cloud and on-prem), coach delivery squads and partners, and raise the bar on engineering quality, performance, and resilience, accelerating time-to-value while keeping costs in check.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading, designing, and maintaining the application architecture.
• Defining standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Working with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Leading architecture reviews and mentoring development teams.
• Recommending tools, technologies, and frameworks.
• Ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.
• Documenting designs and technical specifications.
• Troubleshooting and resolving architectural issues.
• Supporting migration, modernisation, and integration initiatives.

Skills & Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Significant experience leading software development and architecture across application migration, modernisation, and integration.
• Strong capability in documenting high-level designs, system workflows, and technical specifications.
• Deep understanding of architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, layered, serverless).
• Expert knowledge of big data tools (Kafka, Spark, Hadoop) and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) to inform technology recommendations.
• Proficiency in Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases, APIs, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Confident communicator able to brief Senior Leadership and collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements effectively.
