Quality Control Laboratory Analyst

Location: Chertsey

Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, office based

About the Role

We’re looking for a Quality Control Analyst to join our Quality Control Laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience who enjoys analytical testing, problem solving and working in a collaborative environment.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring raw materials and finished products meet the highest quality standards, working closely with colleagues across Quality Assurance, Production, Purchasing and Product Development.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out chemical, physical and sensory analysis of essential oils, blends and carrier oils
• Perform laboratory testing using techniques including GC/FID, GC/MS and HPLC
• Prepare samples, record results and maintain accurate laboratory documentation
• Interpret analytical data and produce clear reports
• Generate and maintain Certificates of Analysis and Technical Data Sheets
• Support the evaluation of essential oil matches through sensory assessment
• Ensure laboratory equipment is validated, maintained and operating correctly
• Maintain accurate laboratory records in line with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
• Organise and manage sample storage and retention
• Work closely with Production, Purchasing and Product Development to communicate quality results
• Support the ongoing development of the laboratory Quality Management System, including ISO 9001
• Assist in preparing and maintaining quality documentation, including SOPs, testing procedures and regulatory documentation
• Review supplier documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Help maintain a safe, clean and well-organised laboratory environment

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science or a related scientific discipline
• Laboratory experience within a quality control or analytical environment
• Knowledge of analytical techniques such as GC, GC/MS or HPLC (experience with one or more would be advantageous)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a team
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Experience of working with essential oils, flavours, fragrances or natural products would be beneficial but is not essential.
