Robert Half Technology are assisting a market leading financial services organisation to recruit a Technical Writer on a contract basis – Hybrid working – London based

Role

• The Technical Writer will shadow and collaborate with senior technical staff to capture undocumented processes and system knowledge.
• Produce clear documentation (procedures, diagrams, runbooks) that enable other engineers to follow and replicate tasks.
• Work independently with technical teams to understand systems and confirm knowledge gaps.
• Document to ensure clarity and consistency.
• Support the team in creating a maintainable knowledge base for ongoing operations.
• Act as a senior presence to engage effectively with strong personalities and drive progress.

Profile

• The Technical Underwriter will be able to work independently and with teams to extract, structure, and clarify undocumented knowledge.
• Comfortable dealing with long-standing technical experts and translating their knowledge into usable guides.
• Pragmatic, organised, and confident in both technical and interpersonal aspects of the role.

Technical Environment (experience with some of the following is preferred)

• Unix/Linux Administration
• Perl / Bash scripting
• Basic networking
• Web applications
• SAP systems
